A lifetime smile

Looking great isn’t only important for our image, but it also helps our self esteem.

Now in days we see lots of people undergo different types of procedures, like plastic surgery, Pilates, diets, among others, to look and feel better, but, are they considering in their plans their smiles?

One of the most important concepts in aesthetics is symmetry, in other words, uniformity in beauty. Taking this concept in consideration, it is easier to understand why all the parts of the face are important. 

After several studies and great observation, dentistry has entered in a smile designing era, a main stream term, but which should not cause confusion.  There is no standard smile; on the contrary, after we evaluate our patient, there should be a personalized and individual design, one which reveals his or her gender and personality, being introvert or extrovert.

To have a better understanding of these concepts, I want to present the case of a young patient, mother of three, with a great personality, cheerful and out going. (Photos1and 2)  All these characteristics made us design a smile, first with lots of light, meaning color of the teeth; dominating central incisive and with rounded angles, a female characteristic; and lateral incisive slightly shorter than the central and than the canine, this gives the smile a youthful look.
